The artists' collective BEWEGUNG NURR was founded in 1989 in Dresden by Alekos Hofstetter, Christian Steuer and Daniel H. Wild and worked from 1996 until 2008 in the constellation Hofstetter, Steuer, Lokiev Stoof. In 2011, Dresden-based media artist Florian Göpfert joined as a member of BEWEGUNG NURR.

In 2003, BEWEGUNG NURR founded the artists’ initiative S-FOR and startet to work together with other artists like Tina Born, Alen Hebilovic, Sven Kalden, Andreas Koch and Christine Weber.

nurr.net delivers a differentiated overview of the complex work of the Berlin-Dresden artist group BEWEGUNG NURR, from its turbulent formation in Dresden in 1989 to its current projects. The biting humour and the ironic and subversive practices of the three artists are examined on nurr.net, as well as the development of the artist collective from their graffiti in Dresden up to the videos, paintings, and installations of today. The conceptual strategies of BEWEGUNG NURR and their nuanced explorations of themes such as the market economy and the media are of significant relevance for the contemporary discussion on aesthetics. The omnipresent marketing and representational codes of the Western service society come to the fore in BEWEGUNG NURR’s works, as well as its by-products and psychoses - the products of the fear of failure and the spiritual vacuum of capitalism.
