John Bock (*1965, Gribbohm) studied until 1997 at the College of Fine Arts Hamburg. He currently lives and works in Berlin. Since 2004 he holds a professorship for sculpture at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe. While his artistic work as a whole can be described as cross-genre, John Bock has increasingly developed interest in working with the medium of film, especially in recent years.

Important solo exhibitions include presentations of his work in the Berlinische Galerie (2017); the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany, Bonn (2013/2014); the Kunstverein Hamburg (2013); the Temporäre Kunsthalle Berlin (2010); the Barbican Center, London (2010); the House of World Cultures, Berlin (2009) and the Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt (2007).
