Joep van Liefland's lowbrow style video experiments reflect the artist’s preoccupation and exploration of other video, film and media formats. The title Dauerwerbung (permanent advertising) refers to videos or TV-channels that continually present ads for products or services. In the video, the artist advertises his own series of video installations, Video Palace, which he produced over a span of 15 years, thus stretching the boundaries between high and low culture and addressing the commodification and franchising of art. The films are produced in a typical video style and can be seen as an homage to the medium itself.
