Are ghosts and spirits the same? While ghosts of past trauma linger among us in our memories, images and behaviour, spiritual rituals can transform real spirits in order to support the individual in the collective to grow stronger together. The video uses material captured during the long-term collaboration project “mivabo!” with Hevièsso highpriest Hounon Hounougbo Amedegnato. By using video effects “difference,” “exclusion” and “splitting” (strategies used to establish and strengthen power positions), the artist tries to deconstruct the illusionary representation methodology of video- and filmmaking.
